Priscilla Shirer: In Awe...

Hillsong Collected

As I write to you, I am on a plane headed from Dallas, Texas to London, England to be with Gary and Cathy Clarke and the Hillsong Europe family. It’s my fourth time to this part of the world. The first was when I was 18 yrs old and was given a celebration trip for my graduation from high school. The 2nd and 3rd were nearly two decades later at the invitation of Bobbie Houston to participate in the Colour Conference. And this 4th trip – well, this one is to be at the Hillsong Conference – the most amazing, stunning, awe-inspiring event I’ve ever seen with these two eyes of mine.

Ten years ago, if anyone had told me that I would have ever been a part of an event so grand, any gathering so significant, any movement of ministry so profound, I would have laughed hysterically. Never in a million years could anyone have convinced me that my life and ministry would be connected with this great work and these great people on the other side of the planet.
I’m in awe of God – which is the way He normally leaves me when I see His plans unfolding.

The very first night of Hillsong Conference Sydney was a “moment” for me. I sat next to my husband watching thousands of world traveler’s rush up and down the stairs in the aisle looking for their seats. I drank in the enthusiastic energy that wafted through the air and encouraged all of our hearts. There was an air of anticipation and excitement that was so palatable you could almost taste it. And when the event began, it did not disappoint. The creativity, the innovation, the level of excellence with which every single aspect of the program unfolded was unparalleled. We were all completely captivated. Every single one of us.

Including Brian and Bobbie.

This is the sign of a conference worth attending, a vision worth buying into and a movement worth participating in. When the hosts – the founders of it all – the ones who were there in the very beginning when there was nothing more than a God-whisper; when they are just as captivated as everyone else, sitting on the edge of their seats to see what God will do just like everyone else, that is evidence of something worth participating in. And so, I watched not only the dynamics of what took place on the platform but what was taking place right on my own row as these two wonderful, godly and influential visionaries experienced the night right along with all of their visitors.

There is only One who can captivate like this. Only One who can garner the attention of this many people and allure them from the four corners of the globe each year.
He is the only One.
And He is Jesus.

And His name. His power. His presence. His glory. . . this was our theme. And, good thing that it was, because this is the real reason why we all had come. We wanted to see Him and . . . .we did. Each of us beheld His glory, heard His voice, and were called into more intimate relationship with Himself.

It was something I will never forget and an experience I am excited to have had the privilege to participate in, not only in Sydney... but now, in London.
I’m changed forever.
