Step Into Your Season

Hillsong Collected

River Bennet's Kids: Hillsong CollectedZion (my 5yrs old-who is starting school this year) came into my room yesterday, eyes filled with tears. I asked him what was wrong... He came over and put his arms around me and said, "I just feel a bit scared about going to school."

“Oh babe, I know...new season’s are scary...I get scared sometimes too..."

He said, “Mum, I am just really going to miss you and Rome (our younger son)."

By this stage, my eyes welled up and I felt that pang in the heart that kind of hurts. I was ready to tell him "Arghhhh, stuff school, stay home with me, we will continue to have fun together and hang out all day!!!” But I know he needs school and school is the next part of his journey.... and I forget my times table anyways... he looked up at me and said,

"Mum can you pray for me?”

Clearing the knot that was wedged in my throat, I started to pray...Mid way through the prayer in crawls Knox (My one yr old)…

"Wait a minute! How did u get up the stairs?! You little monkey!!"

Zion cracked up laughing... "Anyways, Thankyou Jesus! We love you! Amen!!!" And he felt better after that... And I went and balled my eyes out in the bathroom!!!!

New seasons are scary, scary for everyone. There is a sense of not wanting to step into it, usually because it will stretch us, grow us, enlarge our minds and character, yet there is an intrigue and curiosity that find us opening the door...

So here we go again, another new season for my boy and another new season for me...we are not brave if we are not scared, right?

I hope, if you are facing a new season you step past fear, fear only hinders you, and you step bravely and confidently into the new space created just for you...And the thing is, when you are brave it encourages others to be brave too...  So, just go for it! I am! Canteen lady here I come!

Love Riv xoxo

Seasons

Hillsong Collected

Whilst lying in bed this cold winters morning with my iPad bible (gotta love the 21st century) open to Matthew 5 in The Message, I'm yet again stirred and reminded of how blessed I really am.
