Summer Camp 2012
Tuesday night around 600 young teens gathered in a marquee in a valley by the sea. It was hot and sweaty. It still smelled from the tribal challenges that had just ended. In this moment though, it wasn’t about the passion to win a trophy, no this passion was about one thing... or rather one person... JESUS. This is Summer Camp. It’s the place where clichés reign, but they reign for a reason because these young people truly and seriously want to be history makers, change the world, lay everything down for the cause, and see a revival sweep their school and city.
As I stood there, I could not help but be overwhelmed listening to a group of teenagers out-sing the band and with one voice declare:
"I want to know you
Let Your Spirit overwhelm me
Let Your Presence overtake my heart"
So many people wish they could look into the future. I think this week, that is exactly what we had a chance to do. I was only at one of our many camps and conferences, but one thing is for sure, our future looks very exciting! There is a generation of young people passionately in love with Jesus, raring to charge out and set this world ablaze for His Glory. Don’t dare tell them it’s too hard or not possible, because if their passion is anything to go by, I’m pretty sure you can bet that they will choose to ignore any such talk. :)
So thank you Jesus and thank you parents for believing your kids were worth sending to Summer Camp... Trust me... You will see a difference in them...
