Cupcakes, Macaroons & All Things Delicious

Hillsong Collected

For most people sitting in a hospital clinic waiting for treatment or test results can be a horrible experience, especially when you are there for your child.

But, if you were in the oncology clinic and ward at Westmead Children's Hospital last week, you would have seen parents' faces relaxing, kids smiling and possibly even have heard giggles and laughter.

As a Sisterhood, we support 'Cure Our Kids' by sending small teams each week to the hospital to run different activities for the patients and their parents to help relieve the boredom and to take their minds off what they're going through.

One way we get to spoil them is to serve High Tea in the Family Room and the oncology clinic. Last week we saw the largest High Tea to date. It really creates a buzz around the hospital and many doctors, nurses and orderlies come in to have a look at what is going on. Most walk away amazed.

Our team decorates the rooms beautifully with bunting and pom poms. Tea and coffee are served out of fine bone china cups with silver spoons and the tables are covered with all things delicious.

We have such a great opportunity to make a difference in somebody's world even if it is just for a moment. It truly is a privilege to serve these mums, dads and kids who I believe are amongst some of the bravest people I know. Not because they want to be, but because they have to be.

I am convinced that an act of kindness softens hearts.
