THANK YOU: Queensland Flood Relief Support [VIDEO]

Hillsong Collected

I have heard it said so many times "the Australian dream is to buy and own your own home". The devastation of having this dream ripped out from underneath you in an instant would be unthinkable. Sadly this was the reality for many of the residents in and around the suburbs of Brisbane at the start of this year during the floods.

I remember walking through the suburb of Goodna just after the flood. It was like a very dirty, muddy ghost town. It was heartbreaking to see the look of shock, unbelief and pain on people’s faces.

Still the resilience of the people of Queensland was amazing! Our Hillsong CityCare team in Brisbane mobilized over 1200 volunteers on the ground through our Street Teams. The streets recently flooded with water were now flooded with people in Green T-Shirts, helping wherever possible.

After the initial cleanup stage, our team in Brisbane were able to take our help one step further. Since the floods we have been able to help 32 families move back into their homes. This would not have been possible without the kind donations not only from our own Church family, but also many other organizations and churches from around the globe.

In the video below are the personal stories from just a couple of these families (Lorraine, Kathy & Leah). We helped them move back into their homes and make them liveable again. For everyone who helped make this possible, Thank You! And in the words of Lorraine "we are going to be back in our house because of you!"
